Metal Guitar Picks
This popular from some guitar artists 'cause metal guitar picks had a brighter tone compared to plastic guitar picks. Though this kind of personalized guitar picks must be use with some caution 'cause metal guitar picks can damage the guitar body.

Stone Guitar Picks

More unusual guitar picks are made from semiprecious stones such as agate. These differ from their conventional counterparts in that they’re not pressed in the mould; rather, gemstone guitar picks must be hand carved individually. Guitarists who use stone picks find that different stones give different characteristic sounds, depending on the density of the stone.

Having Your Very Own Personalized Guitar Picks, What it can do for you?

Investing in a guitar accessories like guitar picks could be a wise decision especially for the beginners. Some people overlooked to use guitar picks not knowing that having the skills in using guitar picks can enhanced their guitar playing skill.

Having a personalized guitar pick that suit your preference is a great idea. If you have a guitar pick that does not rest comfortably in your fingers and slips when you are playing, you will feel tension in your hand, wrist, and your shoulders when you play. That's how important to have your own personalized guitar pick.

Artists look for their very own personalized guitar pick. There is a sense of unity between you and your instrument that allows you to be totally at ease when you play with your personalized guitar pick. Guitar playing becomes more enjoyable because of the reduced pressure and tension in your body. When you hold the right pick that has superior grip, you can relax more and allow yourself to be taken away by the music.

There are so many factors to choose your personalized guitar picks that perfectly suits your needs. Thickness or weight is one of these factors. The kinds of music you play will determine the right guitar plectrum weight. Thin picks are often chosen by individuals who play rhythm guitar. Thin picks are more flexible and will improve the way you play. Guitar picks with medium thickness can be used by a lot of individuals because they are more versatile. If you do a lot of strumming or pick slides you can you use these guitar picks. But if you want a pick that can really dig into the strings, a heavy pick can be an ideal solution for pinch harmonics.

Once you have settled on the weight or thickness of the personalized guitar pick that you choose, you can also select the material of the guitar pick you choose. Guitar plectrums are made from wood, plastic or even metal. Some makers of guitar plectrums have also used unconventional materials for the picks they manufacture. Designs can also be etched on guitar picks.

Personalized guitar picks makers have different styles and they try to be as original and unique as possible so that consumers can come to their store and leave holding a pick that they can show-off to their friends and peers. Guitar plectrums can differ in terms of color, printing style and the complexity of the symbols or designs incorporated into the pick.

There are also personalized guitar pick makers who customize plectrums for artists. You can put a symbol on your guitar plectrum to personalize your pick. Putting the name of your band is also a common request by many consumers. Carving or etching these designs on the surface of your guitar pick will make your guitar pick unique and many companies allow you to put your own stamp on the picks that they design or make.

So having your very own personalized guitar pick is crucial 'cause every artist is unique preferring different styles and comfort of use.

Top 1 World's Most Expensive Guitar Picks

There's a lot of guitar picks in terms of shapes, sizes, styles and the kind of materials to make your own personalized or customized guitar picks. But, there's always one guitar pick that shines out the rest in the world. This time in terms of the price tag and I mean the most expensive.

So how can this tiny piece of guitar accessories can be so expensive. This personalized guitar pick is in the tune of $5,000 AUD or more than $4,600 USD as the time I'm writing this blog post.

See the picture above, that's a meteor. That is why the world's most expensive personalized guitar pick is the world's most expensive. I don't think how many personalized guitar picks in the world were made in meteor. Scarcity give so much value to this personalized guitar picks.

An Australian company named Starpics is the one that made this remarkable personalized guitar pick.

The above picture is how this pair of guitar picks looks like. Nothing especial at first glance if you ask me but the rarity of these personalized guitar picks that makes it the most expensive guitar pick in the world.

These personalized guitar picks were made from Gibeon meteorites which is said to be 4 billion years old. WOW! This meteor exist way too long before we humans do (even dinosaurs!). Gibeon meteorite was discovered in Namibia, Africa in the year 1836. Due to the rarity and value of this meteor, selling and exporting was banned.

Knowing about the world's most expensive personalized guitar picks is a wow experience. This is not just simply a guitar accessories 'cause there's more to it especially those collecting guitar picks.

Personalized Guitar Pick History

Guitar picks as you can see today has a heart shape which originated from the early 1900's and were made by block printing name from guitarist to customized their own personalized guitar picks. Guitarists on the early days carved their own personalized guitar picks from materials such as bones and shells.

As of today, we can easily buy, collect or make our own personalized guitar picks more conveniently. Some were printed and some were engraved. Personalized guitar picks now use logos and signatures from bands and companies as a form of marketing.

There were also some valuable personalized guitar picks made from rare materials like jade or quarts. Yes, those semi-precious materials were not exempted.

Looking back even from the days when I'm not born yet. I can say that guitar accessory like guitar picks play an important role in our music history.

Do You Need a Pick For Ukulele?

Ukulele according to wikipedia.org is

"...a subset of the guitar family of instruments, generally with four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings."

I just think of this as funny one. I know that there were so many types of guitars, we are familiar that guitar picks especially personalized guitar picks can be used on acoustic guitars. But, some not so guitar instrument like ukulele.

Ukulele according to research on cyberspace originated from Hawaii. I had never played an ukulele, just got this funny question that came up from.

"Do you need a pick for ukulele?"

I typed that question in google search engine and here's what I found.

From answers.com:
The traditional method for playing the ukulele is to strum or pick with the fingers of the hand and not a guitar pick. That said, there are no hard and fast rules, and a pick is not "wrong".

A pick will give a louder and sharper sound, but is not as flexible as playing with fingers (because you have more fingers than picks).

The other thing to consider is a pick can easily damage the finish of a uke (as they rarely have scratch guards on them)

From Yahoo! Answers:
Hahaha, I get this question a lot. When I got a ukulele, my friends started getting ukuleles as well. I was the only one to use a pick. It got me pretty far, but then I realized my body was starting to get very, very scratched. Check out what happened to it, It's the smaller one in this picture.
http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac164…

So, using a plasic pick will be overall bad if you either play long enough or if you play hard. I always played really hard because I am in a band. Until I got the electric-acoustic, I had to use that pick to play loudly enough because I didn't know how to strum with my finger. Then I forced myself to learn, and I don't need a pick anymore.

However, if you really need to use a pick, invest in some felt-tipped picks. Here are the ones I use from time to time.

Below is a video of how to play an ukulele."Hey what the heck do I need to watch that video." You might ask, well you don't have to. I'm just doing this for fun...hehe... I think even not so familiar string instrument like ukulele still needed a personalized guitar picks, what you think? :)

I need more answers to this question. Can you answer the question "Do you need a pick for ukulele?"
